During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to drinking water, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was lost their life in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Russian forces has increased assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has requested "real steps" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and applying penalties," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to municipal representatives.

Government officials told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.
